7 things you didn't know about Emmerdale star Emily Head – aka Rebecca White

When it comes to Emmerdale‘s Rebecca White, there’s just one question on every soap fan’s mind… is she dead or alive?

But while we’re still waiting for that burning question to be answered, here are a few things about actress Emily Head to keep you going…

1. It’s not just her dad who is famous

With a dad like Anthony Head, who is famous for his roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Little Britain, it’s not that surprising that Emily went into acting.

But the talent in the Head family doesn’t end there. Emily’s mum, Sarah Fisher, is a renowned canine behaviourist, and her little sister Daisy is also an actress, appearing in shows like ITV’s Girlfriends.

2. She had some VERY famous schoolmates

Emily went to performing arts academy The Brit School, which she not only calls ‘amazing’ and ‘one of the best experiences’, but was also the place she mixed with the likes of Katy B and Adele.

She told The Mirror: “I was in the theatre strand of the school and Katy B and Adele were in the music strand. Adele was in the year above me and Katy was in my year.”

3. The Inbetweeners was her first ever acting job

Emily landed the role of Carli in the now infamous cult show, straight after leaving school at 18.

The actress has revealed that no-one involved in the show at the beginning had any idea how successful it was going to become. Emily has said in the past that the show was the best job she could have hoped for.

4. She relocated to Leeds for her job on Emmerdale

Emily lived in London before landing the role of Rebecca White, and so unless she wanted the world’s worst commute every morning, that meant moving up to Leeds.

The actress is (or was?) very pleased that she can now find her way to work, proudly telling Soaplife magazine: “I know how to drive to work without my sat nav now, which immediately makes you feel more at home. It’s a completely different city to London.”

5. She decided she was going to be an actress at just three

You might think that having a dad who is a successful actor like Anthony Head would mean you’re destined to follow in his showbiz footsteps… and you’d be right.

Emily apparently told her godmother at the tender age of three that she was going to be an actress, all because her dad never made the job look like an unattainable dream.

6. She taught herself how to knit

In between learning her lines for Emmerdale or being held hostage by her on-screen nephew for work, it seems Emily still finds time for developing new skills, and her latest venture is knitting.

She apparently taught herself by watching YouTube videos and has made a scarf and is even half way through making a jumper. Very impressive!

7. She spends her spare time watching TV – just like the rest of us!

While you might think soap stars spend their time at glamorous showbiz parties, it turns out that they’re actually just like us mere mortals.

Emily’s confessed she likes to unwind after a busy day filming by watching re-runs of Friends on Netflix, or by watching films at home. Bliss!

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
