Set in the rolling hills of the Colne Valley in West Yorks, the boutique hotel and eco-spa is inside a converted textiles mill which was built at the turn of the 20th Century.
Once checked in, I was shown to my two-bedroom apartment, complete with a fully-equipped kitchen, a luxurious living room and a balcony overlooking the Leeds and Liverpool canal.
After taking in the glorious views – blue skies, a canal stretching into the horizon and fields decorated with dry stone walls and livestock – I am robed and ready for some serious pampering.
My first stop is the heat and ice experience, which has ten pits-tops to tantalise your temperature and send the body into relaxation mode.
Switching between saunas, ice rooms, crystal steam baths and freezing cold rain showers is certainly not for those hoping to escape without looking like a bedraggled sea urchin.
Appearances aside, I feel like my stress levels have gone from shrill to nil in the space of 45 minutes – just the antidote for rush-hour chaos, work deadlines or Christmas shopping.
After a light lunch in the bistro, it is time for my treatment – the Elemis Deeper Than Deep Hot Stone Massage. At £85 for 55 minutes, I have high hopes.
Like the rest of the smartphone generation, my back is knotted tight and about as flexible as a fossil.
The Balinese stones, bathed in body oil, do a good job of releasing the old muscles.
And unlike a vigorous sports massage, I don't squeal in pain every few minutes.
For a relaxing and effective massage with a bit of a twist, the hot stones are just the ticket.
I have just enough time for a few lengths in the pool and a doze in the relaxation room before a two-course dinner in the Spa Bistro which uses delicious locally sourced products.
After all that hard work, a girl deserves a little tipple, right? Luckily, there is a conveniently placed cosy cocktail bar adjacent to the spa.
Bellini in hand, I sigh, 'spahhh!
