Football is shooting its way into the world of competitive esports with the launch of the ePremier League (ePL) tournament for FIFA 19.
Stretching finger muscles instead of leg muscles, UK-based competitive FIFA players will battle it out for ePL glory thanks to the support from Gfinity, as announced by EA and the Premier League today.

All 20 of the current Premier League teams will have two representative gamers limbering up to bring home a trophy to their club. Where was this tournament when we were gaming all day and night at university?
The ePL will kick off in January 2019, with several online qualification rounds determining the tournament layout.
Club play-offs will take place from January through until March, with the finals taking place on March 28-29. You’ll be able to watch those live on Sky Sports and the Premier League’s social channels.

FIFA is already a blossoming competitive scene for gaming, with the FIFA eWorld Cup (FIWC) capturing the attention of thousands of gamers back at the beginning of August, where players fought for a shot at the $250,000 (£191,880) grand prize.
And there are no such thing as console wars when it comes to esports FIFA. Each club will have one player on the Xbox One, and one on the PS4, playing their way through to the tournament and the grand prize.

If you consider yourself a FIFA 19 pro already, you’ll be able to register to take part in the ePL from December 3, so keep an eye on the official Premier League website to get signed up.
The ePL will also play a part in the season-long FIFA 19 Global Series, with ePL participants earning points towards their Global Series participation, providing they’re registered and verified to enter via FutChampions.com by October 31, 2018.
