Experts reveal 5 tips to get more likes and followers on Instagram

There’s nothing worse than posting what you think is a great photo on Instagram, only for a couple of likes to trickle in.

Thankfully, there are several ways to boost the number of likes, as well as followers, on your Instagram.

Researchers from Quintly have analysed 44,432 Instagram Business profiles and over 8.9 million posts this year to understand why some posts attract more likes.

Based on their findings, the researchers have put together five trips to get more likes and followers on Instagram.

1. Upload more videos

The analysis revealed that while images are the most common post type, videos actually get the most interactions.

Single images were the worst option, and carousels of images had 2.2% more interactions.

But videos trumped both single images and carousels, attracting 21.2% more interactions.

2. Limit captions to 1-50 characters

Quintly said: “Instagram is all about browsing, getting visual inspiration and quick entertainment, it seems.

“So it comes as a surprise that 31% of overall Instagram posts have more than 300 characters in their post description.”

Despite this trend, the researchers found that posts with captions of 1-50 characters had the most interactions.

3. Include 1-3 emojis in your captions

The analysis revealed that 54.9% of profiles don’t use emojis at all.

Unfortunately, it seems that this leads to fewer interactions – captions with 1-3 emojis got the most likes.

4. Ditch the hashtags

While you may be tempted to add hashtags to your caption, Quintly suggests that this may not be a wise idea.

Quintly said: “Interestingly, most profiles used 1-3 hashtags but they tended to get more interactions when they didn’t use them all.

“The only exception is the profile group with over 10 million followers; their posts with more than 10 hashtags in them tended to get more interactions.”

Their analysis revealed that posts made on the weekend can reel in up to 22.29% more likes than those on weekdays.
