Tony Adams wrongly accused of sexism after viewers think he commented on Susanna Reid's 'red pants' on Good Morning Britain

Susanna, 48, wore a bright red top as she and Piers Morgan hosted GMB this morning.

Viewers raved about her bold look and Arsenal legend Adams, 52, complimented her for wearing the Gunners' red colours.

He then added: "I've got my red pants on as well."

Fans mistook his comment, believing Adams was asking Susanna what colour underwear she had on.

One twitter user wrote: "Unbelievable sexist comments about your pants from neanderthal Tony Adams this morning! #ignoringitprobablyisnttheanswertho."

The GMB studio was filled with TV screens showing ex-England captain Adams' greatest sporting achievements.

Arsenal fan Piers, 53, was full of praise for the Gunners' former skipper and Adams thanked both the journalist and GMB for the touching tributes.

He posted a picture to Instagram of himself and Piers standing in front of the TV shrine, captioned: "Wow! A lot of love coming my way from @thepiersmorgan on @gmb this morning."

Though many viewers were put off by Piers' adoration for Arsenal hero Adams, who won four league titles, three FA Cups and two League Cups during 19 years in North London.

Adams was on the show to discuss his new role as the president of the Rugby Football League, which is unpaid for the first year.

He will start in July having already worked with the RFL in developing the sport's player welfare programmes via his Sporting Chance charity.

Upon being appointed in December, Adams said: "It will be an honour to become the next president of the RFL.

"I am passionate about working with everyone in the sport to raise the profile of mental health, wellness and resilience, for players and for everyone in rugby league.

"I’d like to play my part in championing this brilliant sport on the national stage."
