SmackDown 1000: Edge returns to WWE sending crowd wild… but without wife Beth Phoenix

The Rated R Superstar is one of the most-loved wrestlers of all-time for his fast-paced matches and appearances in the iconic TLC bouts.

The 44-year-old – real name Adam Copeland – was forced to retire in 2011 after suffering numerous injuries to his neck.

But he came back for an appearance on his 'Cutting Edge' segment along with Charlotte Flair and rival Becky Lynch.

The Hall of Famer was without his legendary wife Beth Phoenix, who stayed at home to look after their two children.

He is not expected to return full-time to the WWE, but will make the odd appearance and may even be at WrestleMania next year.

Edge got a huge cheer by the sold out crowd at the Capital One Arena in Washington DC when his entrance music hit.

The hit SmackDown episode was filled with thrills and comebacks, including the return for Rey Mysterio.

The infamous Evolution stable was also at the show, which included Ric Flair, Triple H, Dave Bautista and Randy Orton.
