Saturday's horse racing NAP: Your best bet for today's racing from Callum Jamieson

It's back to the hedge-hoppers on Saturday, with an exciting horse for Dan Skelton hopefully making it back-to-back salmon dinners.

CRUCIAL ROLE (Haydock, 1.30) was a taking winner at Uttoxeter last time.

You get some strong Novice heats at that track, and this chase certainly looks no different.

He was an intended runner in the Dipper at Cheltenham but was pulled out on account of the ground.

This is easier and the ground should suit plenty better today at Haydock.

The Uttoxeter race has played out nicely – with a Friday afternoon boost from Now McGinty who duly hacked up in a nice race at Chepstow.

Jerrysback is the clear rival and will have his supporters. But I'm against him for a couple of reasons – mainly down to the form and the way those races panned out.

If Crucial Role matches his Uttoxeter run, he'll be very hard to beat here and he should come forwards from what you can label his first run over fences.

He bled from the nose on his first outing and his trainer did well to get him back on track so soon afterwards.

Elsewhere on Saturday…

MAGIC OF LIGHT (Ascot, 1.50) is hard to oppose for Jessica Harrington. She's better over fences, but this looks another winnable race for the raider on these shores.

FORBIDDEN PLANET (Lingfield, 1.25) could have found easier company on the all weather but looks well clear of the handicapper at the moment.
