Rain threatens start of World Series Game 1

The rain that's saturated Fenway Park for much of Tuesday afternoon has returned, making a delayed first pitch of World Series Game 1 likely.

The opener of the series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox is scheduled to begin at 8:09 p.m. ET with left-handers Clayton Kershaw and Chris Sale on the mound.

The grounds grew pulled the tarp off the field as sunshine appeared for a short while in the early evening, but rain and lightning has returned to the area.

Forecasters had predicted the showers would taper off around 7 p.m., giving way to clearing skies by game time. However, the weather pattern could also bring rain back into the picture later in the evening.

Stay tuned for more updates.
