The ace, now 23, and a cousin, now 25, are said to have known the girl’s age because she told them she was not old enough to go to a disco at a campsite in France where the alleged incident took place.
It is claimed that the pair – who were 17 and 19 at the time – pressured the girl into drinking with them before raping her in 2012.
The cousin of the top flight star, who is also facing rape charges, insists that the sexual relationship was consensual.
And he claimed he had waited for his cousin to finish so he could allegedly “have his turn” with the girl.
Both deny the charges.
The young woman’s lawyer, Iris Christol, said her client's case was that there was no consent because the girl had been too drunk to give it.
Christol said: “Having sexual relations with someone who is in a diminished state because of alcohol is wrong.
“When you want to have sex with someone after a night out, you take them back to your tent.
“You do not [get them] blind drunk and rape them.”
The girl filed a complaint at the time of the alleged rape but Christol said the delay in coming to trial was because the French justice system was “overstretched” and had been “dragging its feet”.
It is unclear whether the club or clubs the footballer has played for knew the young man was facing a rape charge when he was on their books.
