Policeman takes comedy tumble… but still catches Shaun Marsh's massive six in Australia's ODI defeat to South Africa

During the third ODI, Marsh went on the offensive as the Aussies looked to chase down 321 for victory.

The batsman smashed a rapid-fire ton (106 off 102 balls), including four sixes.

One of those gigantic maximums made its way deep into the crowd with the copper taking a stunning catch, only to hilarious fall over – all the while clinging on for the grab.

The policeman rose to his feet with a beaming grin on his face and launched the ball in the air of celebration – with no hint of embarrassment for the fall.

Earlier in the day, South Africa racked up a huge total of 320-5 thanks to big centuries from Faf du Plessis (125 off 114 balls) and David Miller (139 off 108 balls).

Chris Lynn fell from the first legal ball of the reply, before Aaron Finch fell shortly after.

Marsh, coming in at No3, blasted a quickfire ton to give Australia a sniff – with help from Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell.

But they were never really in it as wickets fell with regularity and Australia ended their 50 overs on 280-9 – 40 runs shy of South Africa.

Victory for the South Africans clinched the series 2-1 – with Australia ending their ODI campaign for 2018 with an appalling win rate of 18 per cent.
