Poland 0 Italy 1: Cristiano Biraghi heads in last-minute winner as Azzurri relegate Poles in Nations League clash

Roberto Mancini’s side totally dominated the match but had to wait until the final seconds to dish up a winning goal.

The Azzurri visitors to the Stadion Slaski should have been ahead inside the first minute from a brilliant move.

Chelsea playmaker Jorginho carved his way through the midfield before curling a beautiful shot toward goal.

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was beaten but the ball cannoned off the crossbar.

On 30 minutes there was another rattling of the woodwork, when Lorenzo Insigne shot past the ex-Gunner but was denied by the frame.

Half time substitutions perked Poland up but they should have gone behind shortly after the break when Federico Bernardeschi had a free header that he somehow skewed wide

The resilient Poles did have a couple of second-half chances but 19-year-old goalkeeping prodigy Gianluigi Donnarumma beat out a couple of efforts

Two minutes into injury time, Italy got a corner that was driven into the front-post area.

Lasagna dived down to scoop the ball up with his head and help it on to the back post when Biraghi was poised to score.

Poland failed to win any of their Nations League matches against Italy and Portugal and are now relegated from Group three so will play in League B.
