Options open for back-to-form Defi Du Seuil after impressive Exeter victory

The high-class five-year-old regained the winning thread in a red-hot novice chase at Exeter earlier this month.

That was his first win since the spring of 2017, when he completed the Triumph Hurdle-Anniversary Hurdle double.

He struggled in two outings last term and flopped on his reappearance at Cheltenham.

But he was much more assured with his jumping last time out when beating Topofthegame over 2m3f, and a further step up in trip looks likely.

He said: "He still jumped the first two less than perfect, but in the end it was very good.

"I was delighted with him and I'm sure he will benefit for the experience.

"We are discussing several options. Kempton is a sharp track and it is not ideal, so he probably won't go there (Wayward Lad Novices' Chase on December 27).

"There is a race at Cheltenham on New Year's Day (Dipper Novices' Chase) and he could go for that, but there are various options.

"We don't know about his trip yet, either, so we could look at both the Arkle and JLT (at the Cheltenham Festival in March)."
