Number of calories in Anthony Joshua’s ‘amazing’ birthday cake will shock you

What’s a birthday without a birthday cake?

Disappointing, that’s what.

But one birthday boy celebrated with the cake to end all cakes this week and that lucky person was none other than Anthony Joshua .

The heavyweight boxing champion turned 29 on Monday, October 15 and to celebrate he headed out for a meal with friends and shared a few snaps on social media.

His pictures revealed he’d been treated to a decadent chocolate cake decorated with sparklers and an abundance of Oreos, Maltesers, Ferrero Rocher and Kinder Bueno sweets.

We were feeling pretty envious about the cake, until we found out just how many calories it contains – and the number will make your eyes water.

According to The Sun Sport, the chocolate birthday cake would set Joshua back "a staggering 7,500 calories" for the whole thing, which they estimate is "around 1,000 calories" per slice.

This is a staggering amount considering the NHS recommend men consume a total of 2,500 calories per day, while women only need around 2,000.

However the 29-year-old can probably get away with eating as much of the cake as he wants as he’ll be able to burn through all 7,500 calories in about a day and a half of training.

He’s also previously revealed that while preparing for a heavyweight clash, he often eats around 5,000 calories a day – filling up on chicken wings, Chinese food and even pizza.

But there’s a while to go until his next big fight, which will be against the winner of Fury vs Wilder on April 13 2019.

We weren’t the only ones mesmerised by the birthday cake, people on social media were also left wanting a slice.

One person said: "That cake looks amazing."

Another commented: "Love your cake, chocolate is life."

"Give me your chocolate cake please," begged a fourth.

But there were a few left thinking about that age old saying, ‘a moment on the lips…’, as someone else added: "Calories Calories Calories."
