Mike Francesa on Stan Lee’s death: ‘Oh, who cares?’

Mike Francesa bullies the dead, too.

The WFAN host couldn’t break from his usual grumpy form Monday, pleading ignorance about Stan Lee’s life — and death — before shrugging him off.

The Marvel Comics co-creator, who died Monday, became a quick topic on Francesa’s show when a listener called and asked if Francesa ever met Lee.

Francesa could have said no and moved on. He didn’t.

Listener: Stan Lee died today, did you ever meet the guy? What did you think of him?

Francesa: Stan Lee?

Listener: Yeah, Stan Lee.

Francesa: I don’t know who he is. I never heard of him, don’t know who he is, no.

Listener: Jesus. [Hangs up.]

Francesa: Who is he? Who is he? Who is Stan Lee?

Producer: He was one of the creators of Marvel Comics.

Francesa: Oh, who cares. I’m not a comic book guy. Is that who he is? Stan Lee?

Guy: He created Spider-Man.

Francesa: Oh, he created Spider-Man? Sorry, I never was a comic book reader as a kid. I apologize. Never.

Lee was 95. He created some of the world’s most renowned superheroes, including Spider-Man and the Incredible Hulk.

“For the record, all I said when a caller brought up passing of Stan Lee was: who is he?” Francesa tweeted Tuesday morning. “Not familiar with his work.Never bought a comic, never have like sci-fi or super heroes. Didn’t disrespect his passing.”

Francesa has been on an attacking spree lately, taking shots at WFAN teammates Gregg Giannotti and Maggie Gray.
