Michigan dismissed sophomore running back O'Maury Samuels from the football program on Wednesday.
Per court records, Samuels currently faces one misdemeanor charge of domestic violence and one misdemeanor charge of malicious destruction of property in Ann Arbor's 15th District Court.
The court filing indicates that the offenses took place Saturday. The charges were filed in the system Tuesday.
On Wednesday afternoon, the athletic department released a statement that reads as follows: "Student O’Maury Samuels has been dismissed from the Michigan Football program."
An athletic department spokesman had nothing more to add on the situation when reached by the Free Press on Wednesday afternoon.
A 5-foot-10 running back from Los Lunas, New Mexico, Samuels came to Michigan as a 4-star recruit as part of the 2017 recruiting class.
He appeared in nine games as a true freshman last season, carrying the ball eight times for 13 yards. In 2018, as a sophomore, Samuels carried the ball 13 times for 66 yards in six appearances.
Michigan (10-2) will play Florida (9-3) in the Peach Bowl on Dec. 29 in Atlanta.
