Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho weighing up shock bid to bring Zlatan Ibrahimovic back to Old Trafford

The Swedish striker spent two seasons at Old Trafford before he joined MLS giants La Galaxy in March.

According to ESPN, the under-fire boss is interested in bringing him back to Old Trafford following his impressive spell in America.

Ibrahimovic struggled towards the end of his time with United due to injury, but he has since scored 21 goals in 25 games for Dominic Kinnear's side.

The Reds are in desperate need of a boost following their miserable start to the season, which has seen them drop to eighth in the table.

And Ibrahimovic has claimed that Mourinho is the man to lead Manchester United to another Premier League title.

Speaking to The Mirror, the LA Galaxy forward said: "I think he has the ability to win [the Premier League].

"I think he is the right coach for that club, for that team.

"But a coach is only as good as his team, so it's not like he can do miracles if the team is not good enough.

"And I feel the team is good – it's progressing, becoming better.

"This is his third year, the players know more and more the way he wants to play and how he wants – so I believe, yes."

Ibrahimovic bagged 28 goals for United after Mourinho took over from Louis van Gaal in May 2016.

But the experienced forward is also "prepared to talk" to AC Milan about a sensational return, according to agent Mino Raiola.

SunSport exclusively revealed that Mourinho will have clear-the-air talks with club chief Ed Woodward in the next 48 hours.
