Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho admits he is 'still tired' from '200mph' Liverpool and 'incredible' Andy Robertson's display

And the under-pressure Special One could not hide his amazement at opposition left-back Andrew Robertson’s energy.

Despite Jesse Lingard drawing Manchester United level before the break, two deflected second half strikes from Shaqiri Xherdan downed the Old Trafford side in front of the Kop.

It was a contest Liverpool dominated from start to finish as they extended their unbeaten run to 17 matches in the Premier League.

It was also enough for them to overtake title rivals Man City and regain top spot.

The intensity throughout from Jurgen Klopp’s men was relentless, and it even had the United boss purring afterwards.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Mourinho said: “Liverpool play 200mph with and without the ball.

“I am still tired to look at Robertson. He makes a 100m sprint per minute! Incredible.”

NO WAY, JOSE Fergie looks furious in stands as Man Utd get beat at Liverpool

Liverpool managed an amazing 36 shots on United’s goal on Merseyside and enjoyed 64 per cent of the possession.

And Mourinho did not even attempt to argue against the final result.

He told BBC Sport: “The strongest team won, but they won in the period when they were not stronger than us.

“In first 20 minutes of the first half there was a huge distance [between the teams]. They were better and stronger, they did everything better than us.

“But in the moment when the game was going down, Liverpool's intensity was dying, the centre-backs were shooting from 30-40 metres because they could not find spaces in a dangerous area.”

United are now 11 points off the top four spots and a huge 19 behind Klopp’s table-toppers.

SHAQ OF THE NET

XHERDAN SHAQIRI'S feud with Gary Neville has continued after Twitter mocked the Manchester United legend for his summer criticism of the Liverpool star.

The £13million summer signing came off the bench to net a late double to seal a 3-1 win to put the Kop 19 points clear of Mourinho's men.

Swiss midfielder Shaqiri saw low shots deflect in on 73 and 80 minutes for a Kop victory that also earned him the man of the match award.

His intervention delighted Liverpool supporters even more after the fact that long-term rival Gary Neville was witnessing the performance from the television gantry.

Neville famously accused Shaqiri of going missing during big matches, but the United legend was forced to eat his words as the midfielder's two goals put his former club to the sword.
