Man City’s incredible 6-1 win has left fans thinking Liverpool and Chelsea should give up on the title

Raheem Sterling's double helped Pep Guardiola's champions return top by scoring five or more goals for the TENTH time in the Premier League since the start of last season.

As social media gasped with admiration, some Liverpool and Chelsea supporters groaned, while Manchester United fans voiced trepidation ahead of next week's derby.

One tweet said: "Give Pep ten good years in the league and he will come out with ten good Premier League trophies.. no competition."

And one Liverpool fan said his "painful" opinion was no-one can touch City.

A rueful United supporter said of next week's trip: "It's mad how we'll lose at Etihad for the first time in four years next week."

Yet some social media users pointed to large gaps in the stadium, summed up by this tweet: "That legendary pockets of t o clash.

Many more fans, though, spotlighted some mind-boggling facts to emerge from City's latest landslide win.

Perhaps most mesmerising, City's ten five-goal shows in the league since August 2017 equals the total from ALL their Prem rivals in the same period.

Arsenal are nearest, on five.

Sterling, meanwhile, confirmed he is up there with the European elite when it comes to stats.

The England flier has amassed 15 goals and eight assists from his last 19 games at the Etihad.

In fact, only Mohamed Salah (50) has been directly involved in more goals than the 23-year-old since the start of last term.

And when City's all-time top scorer Sergio Aguero made it 2-0 early on, he joined Wayne Rooney (183) and Thierry Henry (175) in reaching 150 strikes for a single Prem club.

But City's display was still more for purists than stats lovers.

And no tweet embraced that feeling more than this: "Unreal experience seeing the best team in the world win 6-1."
