John Cena has surprised WWE fans with another new look in ‘boy band’ video

John Cena has shocked WWE fans with his latest small screen role – where he stars with a ‘new look’ in a ‘boy band’.

The 16-time world champion has become a huge Hollywood star outside the ring of late, following in the footsteps of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.

Cena hasn’t appeared in a WWE ring since October when he teamed up with Bobby Lashley to defeat Elias and Kevin Owens at WWE Super-Showdown in Melbourne.

He was scheduled to compete at the WWE Crown Jewel event earlier this month.

But Cena, 41, withdrew from the WWE World Cup event due to the controversy surrounding Saudi Arabia following the death of US-based journalist Jamaal Khashoggi.

Cena has been filming a new movie with action legend Jackie Chan in Shanghai.

And now he is the face of a new advertising campaign by SKYY Vodka, promoting the brand’s ‘Proudly American’ message.

In the latest promotional video, Cena single-handedly forms a boy band with three different characters.

While his appearance came as a surprise to some WWE fans, Cena explains that he proud to be part of the project which celebrates American diversity.

“I was really drawn to the fact that it was titled ‘Proudly American.’ I am a proud patriot, and I think a patriot first, above all [embraces diversity],”e he said, speaking to Business Insider.

“I think it’s a message that’s not only good now, but it’s good anytime and anywhere.

"I think, no matter what the situation — if it’s hard political times or if it’s everybody playing nice together — the message of embracing diversity is important every single day, no matter where you are on your history timeline.

“I’m very, extremely happy that not only is the entertainment industry moving that way [towards diversity and inclusivity], but America is moving that way.

“One could speculate that the reason for all the political tension is that America is, once again, going through a giant phase of change. And I think we’re going to come out great. “I think it’s going to be a wonderful thing. It’s just not without its bumps and bruises.”

Cena is not scheduled to return to the WWE until December. However, it is widely believed his days as a full-time performer inside the ring are over.
