Joachim Low ready to quit Germany and already eyeing up Real Madrid job

Low led his country to World Cup glory in 2014 with his team thrashing hosts Brazil 7-1 along the way.

But the defence of their crown at Russia 2018 turned out to be a disaster after they failed to get out of their group, with fans calling for the 58-year-old to be fired.

But he was given a reprieve by the German Football Association (DFB) and asked to restore the team back to the heights of four years ago.

However, things have gone from bad worse following the embarrassment of relegation from the Uefa Nations League A without a single win in all four matches.

And with his days looking numbered in charge of the national side, Low has his eye on a Spanish escape route.

He told German television network ZDF: “I realise that the major part of my time here is now in the past and I need to think about what I want to do afterwards.

“In my plans are to coach a club which I did before being national team coach.

"I would prefer not to continue in Germany, I think that my future is more likely to be abroad.
“Real Madrid? They are an interesting club for any coach."

Los Blancos fired Julen Lopetegui in October after four shambolic months in charge at the Bernabeu.

And despite Santi Solari being handed a two-and-a-half-year deal, the Spanish giants could look to replace the Argentine coach next summer with Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho among the names in the mix for the job.
