Harry Kane fears he will be out for SEVEN games leaving Tottenham’s season hanging by a thread

The England international, 25, limped off the pitch injured following Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Manchester United.

According to The Guardian, Kane believes he could be unavailable for at least four weeks and could miss next month's Champions League clash against Dortmund.

Tottenham are just four points behind league leaders Liverpool and will face a tough run of fixtures without their top scorer.

He will miss the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Chelsea, the FA Cup tie with Crystal Palace and league games against Fulham, Watford, Newcastle and Leicester if he is out for four weeks.

Kane has been in sublime form for Spurs this season, with 14 goals in 22 Premier League matches.

His ankle was too swollen for the Tottenham medical staff to examine it properly straight after the match.

But the England captain is expected to discover the extent of the injury when he undergoes a scan today.

Spurs, who are just one point ahead of fourth-placed Chelsea, are yet to put a timescale on his absence.

The striker had an ankle injury last year and missed ten games the season before with a similar issue on the same ankle.

How Tottenham can cope without Harry Kane

By Martin Lipton

FROM the doom and gloom swilling around social media, you would think it is the end of the world for Spurs.

No Harry Kane – no chance.

o as a grimacing Kane hobbled off the Wembley pitch, at the end of a 45-minute siege of David De Gea’s goal which found the United keeper in impassable form, the hearts of many Tottenham fans sunk.

Mauricio Pochettino admitted a long-term absence of his striker and talisman would be a “massive blow”, compounded as Heung-min Son left the Arch to go straight to Heathrow and a flight out to the United Arab Emirates and potentially three weeks at the Asian Cup.

Kane has already become the first Spurs player, in the history of the club, to score 20 goals in five successive seasons.

Even the great Jimmy Greaves did not do that (although he scored 20 in eight of his nine campaigns at White Hart Lane).

After the match, boss Mauricio Pochettino said: "We will assess him.

"It was a bad tackle in the last moment. It wasn't their intention but it was a bad tackle.

"He is a little bit swollen and we need to assess it in the next few days. I hope it is not a big issue.

"It is worrying because we are going to lose [Heung-Min] Son to the Asian Cup, and if Harry Kane suffers some issue it is going to be a massive problem."

Pochettino could be forced to call Fernando Llorente up to the first-team with Son expected to be away until the end of January.
