Greg Hardy disqualified from his UFC debut for illegal knee vs. Allen Crowder

If you thought Greg Hardy wasn't a fan favorite before, just wait.

After a blistering start to his bout with Allen Crowder, a fatigued Hardy (3-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) launched an obviously illegal knee to the head of a downed Crowder (10-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC), flattening him and leading to Hardy's disqualification at the 2:28 mark of Round 2.

The heavyweight bout was the co-main event of Saturday's UFC on ESPN+ 1 show at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. It streamed on ESPN+ following prelims on ESPN and ESPN+.

In the early seconds, it looked like another Hardy fight just like the ones we'd grown accustomed to on Dana White's Contender Series.

But when Crowder proved capable of taking a punch and slowing Hardy down with his grappling work, some holes in the game of the former All-Pro NFL player began to show themselves.

In the second round, with Hardy looking visibly tired, Crowder began to taunt him. Imploring Hardy to throw, Crowder dodged his slowing strikes and threw back some of his own before diving in for a takedown.
