Kostas Manolas replied for Greece who had earlier clocked up a 1-0 win over Estonia with Kostas Fortounis on the mark.
Hungary, meanwhile, lost their first game in the competition 1-0 to Finland.
Of the 19 games between the two countries Greece have won nine and there have been six draws.
But Hungary will always remember 1938 and their magical 11-1 victory over Greece.
Next up for the two teams sees Greece go to Finland on Monday and Hungary visit Estonia on the same day.
