Gary Neville criticises Jose Mourinho's tactics by saying Manchester United team is too attacking at Chelsea

And the Old Trafford legend went so far as to say it was a "reckless approach" from the Portuguese, who started Marcus Rashford, Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial.

Neville, speaking on Sky Sports, said: "It's attacking. You could even argue too attacking. People still say now Jose Mourinho, he parks the bus.

"Forget it, he doesn't, not anymore at Manchester United. He hasn't done it for 18 months.

"In fact I would say sometimes it's a reckless approach away from home, even at home."

"The Tottenham game this season, Arsenal and Tottenham away last season, City, all big games where there have been goals, they've been open.

"And I have to say it's a different approach he's used historically when he's been manager of Chelsea."

If anything United should have been more attacking after going a goal down to Antonio Rudiger's header.

And Mourinho's side did not manage a single shot on target in the first half.

His cagey approach in big games has dulled some United fans – but the stirring 3-2 comeback against Newcastle before the international break appeared to restore some of the old swagger.

And starting this blockbuster clash eighth in the table, Mourinho was justified in going for a bold approach.

Alexis Sanchez – whose form has been hit since his split from girlfriend Mayte Rodriguez – was also named on the bench.
