Floyd Mayweather says Khabib Nurmagomedov should face a ‘huge fine’ for brawl after UFC 229 defeat of Conor McGregor

The Russian, who retained the lightweight title after submitting the Irishman in the fourth round, jumped out of the octagon and attacked Dillon Danis seconds after his victory.

Danis, jiu-jitsu coach to Notorious, says he was left “bruised and concussed” after Nurmagomedov’s attacking Las Vegas.

The champ could now be stripped of his belt and suspended by UFC to go with the large financial penalties, while some reports claim Nevada police are investigating the shocking incident.

Now boxing great Mayweather, who defeated McGregor in the ring in August 2017, has voiced his opinion on the stunning scenes.

Mayweather said: “I'm not too familiar with the guy McGregor was fighting, but I know the guy he was facing was undefeated.

“McGregor is a tough competitor but McGregor's opponent jumped out of the ring and was fighting people in the crowd so, very unprofessional.

“It's going to be a huge fine I'm pretty sure because with my fight against Zab Judah, there was a crazy melee in the ring and a huge penalty – a huge fine. If I'm not mistaken, seven figures.

“Not to me, but could have been to Zab Judah or my uncle Roger or even Leonard Ellerbe, so I know when a guy's jumping out of the cage into the audience and fighting different people, the fine is going to be crazy.”

UFC president Dana White believes Nurmagomedov should keep his belt.

But says he thinks a £190K fine and a four-to-six month ban would be sufficient punishment.

Nurmagomedov has since said McGregor’s words, which included jibes about the star’s religion, country and family, before the clash were the cause of his furious reaction.
He has also apologised for his angry post-fight reaction.
