Dele Alli back in training for Tottenham but PSV clash comes too soon for England ace

The attacker last played on September 26 and has been recovering from a hamstring injury.

Tottenham's medical staff will hope to have Alli fit for the Premier League blockbuster against Manchester City next Monday.

The bulk of his training now has an emphasis on conditioning.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino confirmed Alli will not be available for tomorrow's game, along with Danny Rose and Jan Vertonghen.

He said: "Danny Rose, Dele Alli and Jan Vertonghen are still out.

"Christian Eriksen is fit to be selected and we'll see tomorrow if he is to play from the start of the game or from the bench like he did against West Ham."

Alli, 22, last featured for his club nearly a month ago, in the 2-2 EFL Cup draw against Watford, in which he scored Spurs' first.

He has missed their wins over Huddersfield, Cardiff and West Ham plus the Champions League home defeat to Barcelona.

Alli had only just come back from a similar issue during the international break when this latest problem flared up again.

Pochettino also commented on the flurry of games coming his side's way.

After the PSV and City games comes an EFL Cup clash against West Ham on Halloween before a Prem clash away to Wolves on November 3.

Poch said: "I think it's a big challenge for different reasons. It's natural for us to try to put all our power and all our quality to try to manage in the best way.

"For us it's a massive, massive challenge because all the things that happened in the start of the season are different to the start of the last one."
