Dahlhaus heads to Cats after patching up things with Bob Murphy

Former Western Bulldogs premiership player Luke Dahlhaus patched up his relationship with former captain Bob Murphy before joining Geelong as a free agent.

The 26-year-old lashed out at Murphy on social media when on leave in Portugal mocking the opinion the respected Bulldogs' captain made on radio about why Dahlhaus' form had dropped off after the premiership.

However he said the pair had spoken and there were no hard feelings between the ex-teammates.

"In hindsight, I would have definitely handled myself a lot different, the emotions just got to me and I was disappointed in how I acted," Dahlhaus said. "I have contacted Bob and sorted it out."

Dahlhaus said he hoped to contribute to the Cats as a pressure forward who could also play in the midfield and that the fresh start would allow him to reboot his career.

He said his confidence had dipped in the past 18 months after he failed to maintain the form he showed in the Bulldogs' premiership year.

"The confidence in myself probably got a bit drained in the past 18 months … and I wasn't myself out on the field," Dahlhaus said.

Having played with Leopold in the Geelong region as a junior, Dahlhaus said he was rapt to pull on the Geelong colours although he admitted it was "weird".

He said a conversation with Geelong champion Patrick Dangerfield had convinced him that the move was worthwhile and he hoped to improve the Cats.

"I feel like I made the right decision," Dahlhaus said.
