Cristiano Ronaldo admits he was anxious following goalless Juventus start – after finally netting first Serie A goals

The 33-year-old scored twice against Sassuolo in a 2-1 victory for the Old Lady, to end 320 goalless minutes he had endured in Serie A.

And he won't score a simpler goal for Juve after tapping in from a yard out just after the break, following a defensive mishap from Gianmarco Ferrari.

The ex-Real Madrid maestro didn't have long to wait for his second goal for the Bianconeri, as he rifled in a left-footed strike into the bottom right corner 15 minutes later.

Ronaldo's opener was remarkably his 28th shot attempt of the campaign, and he has expressed his delight at scoring in front of his home fans.

Speaking after the game, he said: "I was a little bit anxious as expectations were high. I really wanted to score, so I'm happy.

"Of course, there was attention after my arrival in Turin, but life is like that.

"I'm happy. I'm working well and my team-mates help me to adapt to this championship."

Ronaldo then turned his attention to Wednesday's Champions League tie against Valencia, as he looks to fire Juve to their first European title since 1996.

He added: "It is the competition I love most, we hope to have luck, it will be a difficult group, but I cannot wait."
