Bernardo Silva released from Portugal duty ahead of Manchester City clash with Burnley

The silky playmaker is not inured but has been sent back to the Etihad by manager Fernando Santos.

Portugal beat Poland 3-2 on Thursday night, with Silva scoring the third and decisive goal and he was subbed off only in the final seconds.

The midfielder cut in from the right and glided past several Poland defenders before taking aim with a rasping drive.

But the 24-year-old will not be involved in the Sunday night friendly away to Scotland.

Pep Guardiola needs to get international players back fit and prepared for the visit of Burnley on Saturday.

Sean Dyche’s side has taken seven points from the last possible nine and will aim to unsettle the Etihad high flyers.

Veteran defender Pepe, 35 has also been released from the group to return to Besiktas.
