Arizona HS player faces suspension for high-stepping

While football fans are complaining about how “soft” the NFL has become with its officiating, I’d like to point out this officiating atrocity from Arizona high school football.

During Friday’s game between Peoria and Goodyear Desert Edge, Peoria senior receiver Cameron Torres made a sweet catch near the sideline. As he collected his balance, he somewhat high-stepped into the end zone for a touchdown. It wasn’t even a true high-step, resembling more of a high-kneed jog.

Still, he was called for an unsportsmanlike penalty, ejected from the game and faces a suspension for his homecoming game.
