Antoine Griezmann reveals dressing room chat that inspired France comeback against Germany

The World Cup winners trailed 1-0 at the break following a 14th minute penalty from Toni Kroos.

But two second-half goals from Antoine Griezmann saw Didier Deschamps’ men emerge as winners in the Nations League clash.

France looked to be a different team during the second 45 minutes of the game.

And Griezmann admits there were some words said which fuelled France’s path to glory.

He was quoted by the UEFA website as saying: “It was a tough first half. We were knocked off our stride a bit by them playing three at the back.

“We had to talk and change two or three things tactically. After that it improved.

“We had a quiet word among ourselves at half-time. We became world champions by working hard for each other.”

Boss Deschamps hailed his players’ response, adding: “There was a reaction and we upped the intensity and tempo. The Germans played with real intensity in the first half.

“I modified my tactics that gave more freedom to my forwards. It’s a good thing in terms of finishing top of the group, but we were up against a very good German side today.”
