Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels had an effect on Danica Patrick’s relationship with Aaron Rodgers early on.
Speaking in North Dakota on Wednesday, the retired NASCAR driver revealed the Packers quarterback looked to the past — well, 1994 to be exact — when trying to woo her at the ESPYs back in 2012.
“He was at the bar, puttin’ out the vibe — ‘Dumb and Dumber,’ you know?” Patrick, 36, shared, according to TMZ. “And, I remember he was doing movie lines! And, people that love movie lines, love movie lines. So, I think we had a dialogue in movie lines, and I was like, ‘This guy is really funny!’”
The lines ultimately did the trick, but not right away. In January, Patrick confirmed her relationship with Rodgers, 35, following her breakup with longtime boyfriend Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Rodgers also called it quits with Olivia Munn in the spring of 2017.
The couple has been together for about a year, and Patrick said Rodgers is the first man she’s dated who happily picks up the tab.
“I finally found someone who pays for things. … That’s never happened, ever,” Patrick recently told Graham Bensinger. “I mean I would buy dinner most of the time. It was super uncomfortable in the beginning with Aaron to have him paying for things, because it was so out of the norm.”
