Aaron Judge takes rehab to next level — with encouraging results

SEATTLE — Aaron Judge graduated from hitting off a tee and tosses indoors to Safeco Field on Friday afternoon, where he took hacks at balls off a tee and participated in a toss session that consisted of three rounds with hitting coach Marcus Thames flipping balls from behind a net about 25 feet away. It was the first time the outfielder participated in a hitting program outdoors since fracturing his right wrist in late July.

Judge drove balls with authority to all fields and reached the seats in center field. It didn’t appear his right wrist was bothered by the swinging in either activity watched by trainer Steve Donohue.

After three rounds of flips, a group comprised of Didi Gregorius, who was activated from the DL earlier Friday, Aaron Hicks and Gary Sanchez took early BP, but Judge moved to the outfield and didn’t take BP.
