One in three men would be willing to take male contraceptive pill, survey finds

Last month, scientists took a major step towards developing a male birth control – news that I’m sure will come as music to many women’s ears.

While there have previously been concerns about whether such a contraceptive would work in practice, a new survey suggests that men would be more receptive to it than thought.

The survey, by YouGov, revealed that one in three men would be willing to take a ‘male pill.’

Surprisingly, this is exactly the same percentage of women who currently use hormonal contraception.

Delving deeper into the results, the researches found that among 25-49 year olds – the group most likely to be sexually active – this figure rises to four in ten.

However, a quarter said they would ‘definitely not’ be willing to take a male pill.

The survey also asked participants whose responsibility contraception is – the man’s or the woman’s.

The results revealed that 79% of Brits believe men and women should take equal responsibility for making sure contraception is used

However, in practice, it seems that most people think women take more responsibility.
