Kanye West Thinks Wearing a MAGA Hat With a Kaepernick Sweatshirt Was a Good Look – The Cheat Sheet

Kanye West used fashion to make a contradictory statement ahead of a new album drop and musical guest appearance on the season debut of Saturday Night Live. The rapper‘s visit to The Fader offices caused quite a stir as he gave staff a quick listen of his album YANDHI.

West discussed how he was going to send a track to Rihanna to record for the album. Plus he asked Fader staff if he should change lyrics and invited a number of people to his studio for further discussion, according to The Fader.  Of course, his fashion statement was not lost on Fader staff as they recounted his attire, his feelings about his upcoming SNL appearance and more.

This is what he said about the MAGA hat

While standing in front of staff, holding a pocket dictionary, West says, “I’d like to address the elephant in the room,” he said on a video posted to Twitter. The elephant was the Make American Great hat, Donald Trump’s presidential brand. West insisted though that, “But it’s my hat, I redesigned it. I changed the brim, I mean I changed the shape right here and I put positive energy into the hat.” He removes the hat and uses a sweeping motion with his hand to show how he changed the hat’s shape.

West says nothing about the Colin Kaepernick Sweatshirt

At the same time, West says nothing about wearing a shirt with controversial NFL football player Colin Kaepernick’s name. Donald Trump harshly criticizes Kaepernick for kneeling during the National Anthem so wearing the two together seemed to be contradictory.

However only a few weeks ago, West tweeted support for Kaepernick becoming Nike’s spokesperson. “I stand for giving everyone a voice,” ‘he tweeted. “Adidas giving me a voice and Nike giving Colin voice on a big business level makes the world a more advanced place.”

He loves that pocket dictionary

West has been posting images of a pocket dictionary he brought with him to the Fader meeting. He seems to be on a “positive word” kick and referred to how some words influenced his music, according to Fader. However, when West read the definition for artificial, it didn’t seem to exactly match up to Webster’s version.  According to The Fader, this reference was related to the track he played with 6ix9ine.

West wishes this person was hosting SNL

Adam Driver is slated to host the season premiere of SNL. However, West wasn’t having it and said he’d prefer known sex offender, Louis C.K. instead. Of course as West delivered this comment, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford was testifying to her account of sexual abuse by Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

He’s moving to Chicago

After announcing that he’s moving to Chicago during a show in the Windy City, West followed up with these comments at The Fader. “On his move back to Chicago, he said he’s meeting with Mayor Rahm Emanuel soon to discuss various projects, which may or not include a building a school/studio in the heart of the city,” The Fader Reports. He’s also going to build a flying car factory in the city to help out Tesla.

And he’s back to talking about slavery

West famously said the 400 years of slavery was a choice, according to CNN. He was back to the same narrative saying this at The Fader: If he were a slave he’d “run, fought, or got killed.” He also said a few times that he’s giving up his slave name too.

He goes onto assert there were only 800 slaves in the U.S. in the 1800’s. This number is wrong and actually more into the millions. West also insists there are 2 million slaves currently in the U.S., referring to those trapped in a private prison system.
