This Hamburger Uses Fried Lobster Tails as Buns: Would You Eat It?

Burger & Lobster’s Double Drown hamburger is giving new meaning to the phrase “surf and turf.”

While eating meat and fish together in one sitting is nothing new, the London-based chain, which only serves hamburgers and lobster prepared a few different ways, decided to combine its two signature menu items into one, hearty meal, which debuted earlier this month.

The Double Drown hamburger, which is for sale in London at Burger & Lobster’s Harvey Nichols restaurant, will only be available for a limited time, and is being served daily on a first-come, first-served basis. The decadent dish features smoked bacon and melted cheese sandwiched between two fried lobster tails.

As a statement from Burger and Lobster put it, the new menu item is “set to be one of the finest burgers around!”

The calorie-packed entrée costs about $61, and consumers looking to indulge even more can upgrade to a lux-meal, complete with champagne and chips, for an additional $13.

The Double Drown, which was clearly inspired by KFC’s Double Down – bacon, cheese and a mysterious “Colonel’s sauce” sandwiched between two fried chicken cutlets – is already making waves on Twitter.

“This will be the only thing I will dream about tonight,” wrote one user. Another added: “This is doing too much … would I eat it? Yes.”

Still not everyone is on board with this sandwich. As one naysayer put it, “The chef behind this must be arrested for disturbing the peace.”
