Airbnb is celebrating its 10th anniversary — and with it, it’s released a list of its top 10 most wish-listed properties of all time.
From a cave that you can stay in, in Santorini to a rainforest cabin in Colombia, the company is known for its quirky rentals.
There’s also a super-secluded Hawaiian fern forest property or a listing in Montenegro with stunning views from its patio.
Many of the topmost wish-listed properties have an eco element, too.
Four were built with bamboo while three are off the grid and five are eco retreats, showing how customers want to go back to nature to really relax when they are on holiday.
Here are the top ten most wish-listed properties on Airbnb that you might want to try and book for yourself.
1. I Sette Coni, Trullo Edera, Italy
The winning property, which has been wish-listed more than 164,000 times is the I Sette Coni property in Ostuni, Italy.
It has conical roofs, which look like somewhere that Frodo Baggins would be very much at home with living under.
There’s also a garden complete with olive trees. The property comes in at $80 per night.
2. Hector Cave House, Santorini
The second most wish-listed property is the Hector Cave House in Santorini, carved into the side of a cliff.
It’s been added to wish lists 134,000 times to date – and no wonder, as it comes with its own jacuzzi that faces the sea.
The house started out as a wine cellar but is now on the Airbnb market for $283 per night.
3. Romantic cabana with view, Colombia
The third on the list is a cabana in Armenia, Colombia, on a farm. It’s right in the coffee-producing region of Colombia, too.
It’s been wish-listed almost 100,000 times to date and is made from bamboo.
It sits next to a stream and users can rent it out for $39 per night, which isn’t bad at all.
4. Hideout Bali Eco Bamboo Home, Bali
Back to Bali again and this time to another bamboo home.
Users will need to book this home six months in advance as it’s very popular on the site has been wish-listed 77,000 times.
This beautiful home is available for $174 per night.
5. Luxurious Stone Villa, Crete
Greece gets very hot indeed, so homes need to be cool and airy inside, which this stone villa certainly will be.
Carved from natural rock, this used to be a family home but is now open for visitors.
It’s been wish-listed over 76,000 times so far and costs $57 per night to book.
6. Dreamy Tropical Tree House, Hawaii
The sixth most wish-listed property is a treehouse in Hawaii that’s not far from the beach.
It’s set in the jungle and is also close by to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
The property has been wish-listed over 66,000 times so far and costs $298 per night.
7. Bamboo Eco Cottage in Rice Fields, Bali
Another homemade from bamboo and another property in Bali, killing two birds with one stone.
Situated in a rice field, this property is certainly back to basics, but that makes it all the more unique.
It’s been wish-listed over 65,000 times and comes in at a bargain $64 per night.
8. Off-Grid ItHouse, California
If you want to get away from it all, this property is a good choice as there’s no WiFi — and you’re also likely to see bunnies hop by at dusk.
There are epic views out over the desert, as well as modern design and comfy sofas to lounge around on.
Wish listed over 63,000 times so far, it’s available for $399 per night.
9. The Cosy Palace, Morocco
A restored riad in Marrakech, Airbnb guests have said that the photos don’t “do the rooms justice.”
There’s a rooftop where you can sip mint tea and you’re close to all the action of the souk.
It’s been wish-listed 60,000 times so far and comes in at $49 per night.
10. Waterfront with Extraordinary View, Montenegro
If you’re off to beautiful Montenegro then this is the place to stay in the town of Kotor.
This property has a private terrace that looks out over the water and has been wish-listed over 52,000 times. It costs $45 per night.
Airbnb was founded in 2008 by three friends called Brian Chesky, Joe Gebbia and Nathan Blecharczyk and when it was called Airbedandbreakfast.com.
At the start, there were just 800 people signed up. Ten years later, the company has had over 300 million guests to date.
