See If Kourtney Kardashian’s Ghee Beauty Hack is Worth a Try

Does ghee every day keep the doctor away?  From CBS’ The Doctors, Dr. Travis Stork put celebrity food beauty trends to the test – so you don’t have to! From using beets as lipstick like Shailene Woodley to drinking ghee every morning like Kourtney Kardashian, he tries it all. Watch the exclusive video above to see which are a hit – and which trends don’t pass this doctor’s test!

Shailene Woodly told Bon Appetit that she uses roasted beets as a tinted lip moisturizer. The verdict? “I love the idea of beets as a natural color for your lips,” Dr. Travis approved. “You can take beets and even give yourself tinted colored cheeks!”

Meanwhile, Kourtney Kardashian recently wrote on her blog that she melts ghee every morning and drinks it, then waits 20 minutes before having any water or food. She claims that the clarified butter helps to promote weight loss and digestion. While trying to keep a sip of the ghee down, Stork winced and said, “This is part of that whole bullet-proof, keto diet craze. I’m not gonna sit here and say ghee is good or bad for you. It’s well over 50 percent saturated fats. In moderation, all that’s fine. If it works for her, that’s great. That’s just personal preference.”

How about a spicy toothpaste for whiter teeth? Dancing With the Stars alum Julianne Hough told E! News that she brushes her teeth with turmeric for her pearly whites. “I don’t hate the idea because turmeric is an anti-inflammatory. What happens in our mouths – we can get a lot of inflammation, gingivitis. I personally believe that you should be using products that are meant for brushing your teeth. It just feels wrong!”

What about using nipple cream on your lips or kitty litter as an exfoliant? Watch the video above to see what Dr. Travis says is a hit … or a miss!
