The great and good of European royalty are set to gather in London next week to mark the Prince of Wales’ landmark 70th birthday.

Kings, queens, princes and princesses from across the continent are expected to travel to Buckingham Palace for a glittering banquet held in Charles’ honour on November 14.

And the guest list is shaping up to be equally illustrious with a spate of royals set to hobnob with the likes of William, Kate, Harry and Meghan.

According to Royal Central, Denmark’s Crown Princess Mary and Crown Prince Frederik will be attending on behalf of the Danish royal family.

The website also reports that the Swedish royals – King Carl Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel – will not be attending due to a prior commitment.

The soirée will see hundreds of guests enjoy a reception followed by a lavish dinner, possibly in Buckingham Palace’s opulent state rooms, with details kept strictly under wraps ahead of the big night.

It was revealed in September that invitations had already been sent out by the Queen, who is set to deliver a short speech.

Sweden’s most senior royals will instead be busy hosting a state visit from Italian President Sergio Mattarella between 12 and 15 November.

Norway’s heir to the throne, Crown Prince Haakon, is listed as regent on November 12, suggesting that Queen Sonja and King Harald could be travelling to the UK, Royal Central notes.

And the Serbian Royal Court has indicated that the royal family have received an invitation, but did not reveal whether they would be attending.

As personal friends of Charles and Camilla, it is thought to be ‘highly likely’ that Norway’s royal couple will attend. 

The Spanish royal family have not yet published the agenda for the king and queen’s activities beyond this week.

The Dutch royals recently travelled to London for an official state visit to the UK, however Queen Máxima has cancelled a spate of upcoming engagements due to a suspected intestinal infection, the palace said.
