Piers Morgan hits out at plus-size model Tess Holliday AGAIN

Piers Morgan calls on plus-size model Tess Holliday’s friends to warn her that she’s ‘dangerously overweight’ – as he hits out at her AGAIN over a skimpy underwear selfie

  • Tess, 33, shared an underwear selfie on her Instagram feed on Tuesday
  • The model can be seen posing in front of a mirror in Long Beach, California, in a flesh-colored bra and panties
  • At first glance, it’s easy to think Tess is naked in the image, because the color of her lingerie closely matches that of her skin
  • Her photo was a hit with her fans, who called her ‘simply gorgeous’, ‘absolutely amazing’, and ‘stunning as usual’
  • ‘Thank you for representing me,’ one person wrote. ‘For your efforts to show the world that ALL bodies are beautiful, regardless of size or shape’

Piers Morgan has hit out at plus-size model Tess Holliday again labelling her latest selfie ‘very sad’, after criticising her appearance on the cover of UK Cosmopolitan.

The model, 33, from Mississippi who weighs 300lbs (21.4 stone) shared a snap of herself in nude underwear on her Instagram feed on Tuesday, prompting the GMB presenter to hit back, saying the snap was ‘very sad’.

‘She badly needs better friends, who are going to be more honest with her & explain she is dangerously overweight & should do something about it,’ he tweeted.

Reaction to the post was divided with many agreeing with Piers, saying she is setting an unhealthy examples.

However, others argued that her size is none of anyone’s business, while many pointed out that her posts are not meant to celebrate obesity, but are meant to celebrate being body confident and happy at any size.

Earlier this month, he became involved in a fiery debate on Good Morning Britain with Cosmo’s editor Farrah Stoor, who defended putting Tess on the cover of the magazine.

‘We should not be aspiring to be an unhealthy weight, be it far too skinny or far too fat, and the same goes for both women and men,’ he said.

‘For Cosmo to put this on their cover as something to aspire to is dangerous, wrong, and frankly misguided.’

A week earlier, he’d tweeted his disapproval saying: ‘As Britain battles an ever-worsening obesity crisis, this is the new cover of Cosmo.

Commenters hit back at Piers saying that Tess’ size is none of his business while others pointed out that even if being overweight is unhealthy, that’s no reason for people to feel shamed and uncomfortable in their own skin

‘Apparently we’re supposed to view it as a ‘huge step forward for body positivity.’ What a load of old baloney. This cover is just as dangerous & misguided as celebrating size zero models.’

But Tess was quick to hit back with her own tweet, replying: ‘To everyone saying I’m a burden to the British health care system, I’m american so you don’t have to worry about my fat ass.

‘Worry about what horrible people you are by whining about how me being on the cover of a glossy magazine impacts your small minded life.’

And her latest lingerie selfie which has garnered more than 68,000 likes in 11 hours, was a hit with Tess’ fans, who told her in the comments section just how much the snap means to them.

Plenty of commenters agreed with Piers and said that neither excessively thin or overweight body shapes should be celebrated as the norm

‘Thank you for representing me. For your efforts to show the world that ALL bodies are beautiful, regardless of size or shape,’ one person wrote. ‘I think you are absolutely amazing and simply gorgeous.’

Another Instagram user told Tess she looked ‘stunning as usual’, while someone else called the model ‘very, very beautiful’.

One person wrote in a personal comment: ‘I was fat-shamed this week by a guy that wanted to hook up when I politely declined. I was bullied about my weight growing up and to hear those words again to my face brought so much of that back.

‘Because of your positive influence I was able to brush off the hate and smiled. So thankful for you and all you do. You’re beautiful.’

Just a few hours before posting her lingerie selfie, Tess shared another snap of herself, looking stunning in a bold printed dress and posing on a rooftop in Los Angeles.

‘I still get excited when I realize that I get to live in LA,’ she wrote next to the photo, which was taken by her husband Nick Holliday.

‘Not only do I live here, but I’m able to have my dream job & thrive in a city that people once told me would chew me up and spit me out. I’m a stubborn Cancer tho, so they shoulda known better.’

Just last week, Tess shared a black and white naked selfie on her Instagram feed, as part of a publication promoting a hotel-booking service and a hotel chain.

She can be seen in the sultry snap posing fully nude on her hotel bed, covering her chest with her left hand while taking a photo of her reflection in a mirror using her cellphone.

Several of Tess’ many tattoos appear in the photo, including the portraits of the actress Mae West, the drag queen Divine, and the Muppet character Miss Piggy on her right arm.

The model’s long hair is pulled back into a high ponytail and she’s wearing her signature make-up look featuring long, voluminous lashes, an impeccable complexion, defined brows, and a bit of contouring on her cheeks.

‘Thanks for a great stay @dreamhotels,’ she added, this time plugging the Dream Hotels group.

The chain has two locations in New York City, where Tess was staying for Fashion Week.

That same week, Tess, who graces the cover of Cosmopolitan UK’s October issue, shared a preview of a special program she filmed with People TV, giving an intimate look at her life with  her husband Nick Holliday and her two children, Rylee and Bowie.

In the video, Tess, who was born Ryann Hoven in Laurel, Mississippi, opened up about her beginnings as a model, when she first started pursuing her dreams.

‘When I told my family and friends that I wanted to model, my mom supported me but the rest of my family thought that I was absolutely mad.

‘My friends all took bets to see how long before I moved back. Look at me now!’
