This is the moment Meghan accidentally revealed her baby’s due date after months of speculation.

The Duchess of Sussex, who is six months pregnant, let slip that her first child is expected at the ‘end of April or May’ while greeting crowds in Birkenhead, Merseyside on Monday.

New footage shows Meghan saying that the baby will come ‘when it’s ready’, telling fans: ‘We’re ready, we’re so excited.’

She says: ‘One of my friends was saying she was five weeks early, so you can never really gauge.’ 

Eileen Athurst, 65, from Wallasey captured the moment on camera and told MailOnline she had waited for an hour in the cold to catch a glimpse of the royals.

Today marked the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s first engagement of the year.

Ms Athurst said Harry came over her after spotting her leopard print coat, saying: ‘I like your coat. Was it a Christmas present?’ 

Another woman in the crowd then asked Meghan about her baby due date. Eileen recalled: ‘I was very surprised by how open she was [but] she came straight out with it. 

‘They chatted to everybody. I shook hands with both of them and they were so lovely and so friendly.’

While Kensington Palace have not publicly revealed Meghan’s due date, royal fans had previously speculated that Baby Sussex could be expected as early as March due to her blossoming baby bump.  

Harry was also heard asking one mother how her daughter Lily’s name was spelt, although Meghan insisted that they did not know the sex of their baby. 

Fellow fan, local woman Kim Thompson, said that Meghan had told her she thought Harry would make a ‘fantastic father’.

The Duchess also chatted to a hypnobirthing teacher, Sonia Richards, who was in the crowd with her mother Marion Mazumder.

Sonia, who runs Wirral Hypno, said: ‘I told her I teach hypnobirthing and she said, ‘It’s such a special thing that you are doing’. She looked radiant, she looked really well and I just wished her a wonderful birth.’

Marion added: ‘I said I am looking forward to the baby coming and she said, ‘So are we.”

The 37-year-old told a young girl in the crowd that neither she or husband Prince Harry know the sex of their first child and were ‘keeping it as a surprise’.

Kitty Dudley, nine, from St Anne’s Primary School in nearby Rockferry, said: ‘Meghan came up to me and asked me how old I was and where I went to school. 

‘I could see her bump and I asked if she was having a boy or a girl and she said ‘we don’t know whether it’s a boy or girl, we are keeping it as a surprise’.

Megan Redford, seven, quizzed the Duchess on baby names saying: ‘She asked me if I was called Meg or Meghan because she said her friends call her Meg and mine do as well.

‘I asked her whether she would call her baby Amy if she has a girl and she said ‘That’s a really pretty name, I like it, we’ll have to think about it’.

The couple announced they were expecting their first child in October, coinciding with their first major overseas tour of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga.
