The home provides assistance to 36 residents who have worked professionally in the entertainment industry and are in need of help and assistance as a result of old age, ill-health, or hard times.

Meghan, previously known for her role in US legal drama Suits, will join residents as they take part in Christmas-themed activities, including arts and crafts and carols around the Christmas tree.

Prince Charles previously paid a visit to the home in 2002, where notable former residents include Last Of The Summer Wine star Dame Thora Hird who died in 2003.

During her visit, Meghan will see how the Royal Variety Charity – of which the Queen is patron –  helps and supports hundreds of retired entertainers throughout the UK.

The charity recognises that work in the entertainment industry can be seasonal and sporadic, leaving some without security or the ability to plan for the future.

Last month, Meghan attended her first Royal Variety Performance, which raises money for the charity, with the Duke of Sussex, meeting performers including Take That.

The organisation, of which the Queen is patron, helps those who have spent their life working in the entertainment industry and are in need of help and assistance as a result of old age, ill-health or hard times.

Brinsworth House accommodates up to 36 residents cared for by a dedicated team of nurses and care assistants.

The home is decorated to emphasise its theatrical lineage, representing the retired artists and entertainers who have been supported there over the years.

Meghan herself has spoke of her own struggles as a budding actress, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Last Of The Summer Wine star Dame Thora Hird was a resident at Brinsworth House in Twickenham, where she died in 2003

The former Suits star revealed how she used to drive a ‘beat up, hand-me-down Ford Explorer Sport’ from audition to audition during her years as a struggling actress.

And when the doors jammed shut, Meghan was forced to spend months climbing through the boot and clambering over the seats to the steering wheel.

‘The clicker wouldn’t open the front doors and I couldn’t afford to fix this car and this was how I got from one audition to the other,’ she said.

Meghan’s first solo engagement was the opening of the Oceania exhibition in September

So what I would start to do is literally go to these auditions, park at the back of the parking lot and I would open my trunk… and crawl into the back of my car to the front seat to drive off to my next audition.’

It marks one of Meghan’s first solo engagement without her husband Prince Harry since their wedding in May.

Her first solo outing was in September when she visited the opening of the ‘Oceania’ exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts.
