How Sainsbury's shoppers can DOUBLE their Nectar points

Every year, the supermarket gives shoppers the chance to get ahead of their Christmas shopping by doubling their Nectar points when they spend in store.

Nectar points are a loyalty scheme where customers can collect points to spend with certain retailers.

Eagle-eyed shoppers have spotted details on the upcoming event on the Sainsbury's app and spilled the beans on HotUKDeals.

Between October 29 and November 4, you can exchange 1,000, 2,000 or 5,000 Nectar points for a double up voucher either in store or online.

During the event, 1,000 points is worth £10 instead of £5, and the maximum you can claim is 5,000 which is worth £50.

What can I spend my double up points on?

  • Cosmetics
  • Electricals
  • Entertainment
  • Fragrance
  • Gifts
  • Homeware
  • Seasonal goods
  • Skincare
  • Taste the Difference wine, champagne, sparkling wine, sherry and port
  • Toys
  • Tu clothing .

You'll only be able to spend the vouchers in store between November 12 and 18.

Shoppers can only redeem the coupons on specific ranges including toys, Christmas decorations and homeware, as well as Tu clothing, skincare and fragrances.

But there are a few catches. You'll have to choose what department you want to spend your vouchers in before you cash the points in.

You will also need to spend the voucher in one go.

For example, if you have a £40 voucher and you want to buy a £15 pair of jeans then you'll either need to choose another £25 worth of clothes or else forfeit the remaining value of the coupon.

Shoppers can only redeem them in store which means you can't use them on online orders.

Even though you can collect Nectar points by shopping at Argos, Asos, Debenhams online, Disney Store online, Easyjet, eBay, Expedia and Three mobile, you'll only be able to double up at Sainsbury's.

Sainsbury's is trialling a new Nectar card scheme but it could see some customers missing out on loyalty points.

It's also making a massive change to how Nectar points work. Here is how to maximise the amount of nectar points you earn on your shop.

According to experts, we might soon see Nectar points in Asda after the supermarket merges with Sainsbury's. Here is how the merger will affect your shop.
