Jill and Derick made money from ‘Counting On’ before departing the show
Although the actual amount earned by each Duggar isn’t disclosed by TLC, it’s widely known that TLC pays its cast members anywhere from $25,000 to $40,000 per episode. The paycheck likely depends on how crucial the person is to the show. When Counting On got its start, Jill and Derick Dillard were a major part of the show’s cast. Jill and Derick likely earned around $40,000 each to appear in the episodes. Each season had anywhere from seven to 13 episodes, so the Dillards were probably making plenty of money when they were featured on the show.
Derick Dillard was allegedly fired from the show in 2017 after making transphobic comments about another TLC star. The couple has not appeared in the most recent season. Dillard claims he was not fired from the show and chose to pull his family on his own terms.
Derick got his degree in accounting, and Jill is a certified professional midwife
When Derick and Jill were expecting their first child back in 2014, Derick had earned a degree in accounting and was working in the industry. Bustle reported that Derick’s LinkedIn profile stated he worked as a tax accountant. However, Derick left his position to do missionary work. And since Counting On was doing well and he was earning a nice paycheck, he didn’t have a day-to-day job. Jill, on the other hand, never had a full-time job, but she is a certified professional midwife.
The couple spends a lot of their time doing ministry work
When the couple was on the TLC show, they spent most of their time doing ministry work. They ran a charitable organization that frequently asked for donations for the couple to use while traveling around South America. However, fans began to question where the donations were going, since Derick was not an ordained missionary. Eventually, the charity folded, and the couple returned home from South America. Not too long after, Derick made the harsh transphobic comments, and the couple pulled their plug on the TLC show. However, neither had a steady job at the time.
Today, they’re worth an estimated $400,000
Today, experts estimate the couple is worth around $400,000, most of which comes from Jill’s relationship with TLC. They likely still have some money left over from the Counting On days. And Derick supposedly once again has a paying job with a ministry group in Arkansas. Jill is also active on Instagram with more than 1.6 million followers, and she has done Instagram advertising in the past. While the future of the couple on Counting On is up in the air, at least they have a solid net worth for the time being.
