Girl asks Santa for ‘special request’ instead of toys in heartbreaking letter

A selfless little girl has written a heartbreaking letter to Santa Claus, saying that all she really wants for Christmas is to spend more time with her dad on the special day.

Zadora Matias, aged 10, wrote the touching note urging Santa to move his shift to two hours later so they can more precious moments together – even forgoing her presents if necessary.

The girl, from Springfield, Massachusetts, said that she wants daddy to be at home with her "because when he’s happy, I’m happy" in the adorable plea.

The note reads: "I want very little things for Christmas

"Out of all the things you bring me, I would want one of them to come true, and the only people that can grant my wish is you and my dad’s boss.

"This is a very special request.

"I would like you to change my dad’s work shift time, now it’s 4:30-1:00 I would like you to change it to 6:30-3:00

"He would be so happy and when he’s happy I’m happy.

"and I’ll tell you this: I’ll even let you skip my house (I only want 3 things) but can you please just change his shift."

Zadora’s proud grandmother sent the letter to WWLP .

The 10-year-old told the US news site that she hoped the letter would encourage the post office to change his shift by a few hours so they could spend that valuable extra time together.

Dad David has requested the change, but thinks it’s unlikely he’ll be granted it given how busy the post office is at this time of year.

He added that it really is "up to Santa" whether he gets to start and finish later this Christmas day.
