After our most recent trip to Amsterdam, we fell completely in love with the city and all it has to offer — especially all of its Instagram opportunities.
That’s right, fam! Amsterdam is a gold mine for photo opps, and after exploring the Dutch city for just a few hours, you’ll have developed enough Insta content for weeks. If you’re thinking about heading over to the Netherlands anytime soon (or if you already have a trip in the works), don’t waste any time and head over to these 10 attractions. You can thank us later!
The Canals

LBR, one of the main reasons that people go to Amsterdam is because it’s so “DAM” pretty, especially by the canals! That’s why, you can’t step foot in the city without carving out plenty of time to take Instagrammable photos of yourself posing next to the canals in the Royal Streets. When we went, the streets were decorated with colorful little flowers and, of course, tons of bicycles.
We know what you’re thinking: isn’t a canal photo in Amsterdam sort of, well, basic? Maybe… but you know what? If the photos didn’t come out so great, no one would even bother trying. Take this as a sign that if you go to the canals to snap an Instagram photo, you can sleep well knowing you’ll have at least one good photo that proves you were there. Pics or it didn’t happen… ya know?
The ‘I Amsterdam’ Sign
If you’re headed to Amsterdam, chances are you’re already dreaming of the magical photo you’re going to take in front of the ‘I Amsterdam’ sign. We get it, you can’t go to Amsterdam and miss this photo opp. However, if you’re planning on strolling by one of the signs (because there are two of them) in the middle of the day, you’re going to be disappointed. Why? Because this is a HUGE tourist attraction and it’s going to be hard to get an instagrammable photo that doesn’t have other people in the frame.
Luckily, there’s a solution… but you’re gonna have to work for it. If you want to get the perfect photo with the ‘I Amsterdam’ sign, you’re going to need to wake up at the crack of dawn or hit it up super late at night. Don’t worry, though! During the summer, the sun doesn’t go down there until around 10 P.M. It’s AH-mazing!
The Rijksmuseum
There’s no denying that we all want good Instagrams, especially when we’re traveling the world. However, that doesn’t mean we don’t want to explore museums and become more cultured, too!
Well, if you find yourself in Amsterdam, you’re in luck. The city has a whole bunch of museums, and after you check out the Anne Frank House, which is an Amsterdam staple, you’ll want to head over to the Rijksmusem and the Van Gogh Museum. Spend some time wandering the halls and appreciating the art, and then on your way out, be sure to snag a pic of the Rijks for your feed. It’s a pretty awesome building.
The Royal Palace

As we all know, there’s no such thing as royalty in the States. We mean, we have Beyoncé and the Kardashians, but there’s no such thing as real royalty with real palaces here. That’s why, if we want to see anything that’s actually royal, we’ve gotta go to Europe, and if you’re in Amsterdam, you should definitely hit up the Royal Palace.
Not only is it a super cool (and not to mention photogenic) building, but it also has a ton of history. When we were there, they even had a red velvet chair outside waiting for us, and we don’t know about you, but we LIVE for a good photo prop. Smile and wave, ladies and gents, smile and wave!
The Fault in Our Stars Bench
If you watched The Fault in Our Stars and cried for the entire movie, you’re pretty much obligated to visit “the bench” on your next visit to Amsterdam. Come on… don’t pretend like you don’t know which bench we’re talking about!
Not only is it a super pretty location, but it’s also the perfect photo spot if you’re traveling with your bae! Choose your own pose or take notes from Augustus and Hazel Grace, but either way, you’re going to be left with a stellar photo that’s perfect for your Insta feed. Okay? Okay.
Stroopwafels

It’s time for dessert, y’all! Anyone in Amsterdam will tell you that you have to get your hands on a stroopwafel, and they’re right — YOU DO! Although you can get a package of plain stroopwafels from any supermarket in the city, you’re going to want to find a gourmet bakery. Trust us… your Instagram feed and your taste buds will thank you.
When we hit up Van Wonderen Stroopwafels, we chose the ones with M&Ms and marshmallows, but there are loads of options to choose from. Not feeling one of the ones we mentioned? How about Oreo, salted caramel, or coconut? They’ve got it all!
The Avocado Show

If you’re as obsessed with avocados as we are, you must hit up The Avocado Show, which — you guessed it — is a restaurant that’s completely dedicated to the super fruit! Everything on the menu has avocado in it, so it all depends on whether you’re in the mood for a poké bowl or — wait for it — avocado pancakes.
Obviously, the food is Instagrammable AF, but that’s not the only thing at the restaurant that’s worthy of making it onto your feed. The windows of the place have an adorable avocado pattern on them, and inside, there are velvet chairs, some extremely photogenic greenery, and even a neon sign that says “The Avocado Show.” Avo-course you need to go!
The Heineken Brewery
NGL, we’re not huge fans of breweries, but the Heineken Experience totally changed the game! This isn’t just your typical beer tasting. Sure, there’s an opportunity for that, but this brewery offers a totally interactive experience full of photo opps, games and even a ride that turns YOU into a beer bottle!
Even if the Heineken brewery doesn’t match your Instagram aesthetic, we say you should take the time to go anyway! At the very least, you’ll get to enjoy two beers included in the price of your ticket at “the best ‘dam bar” in Amsterdam!
MaMa Kelly Restaurant
If you’re looking for an aesthetically pleasing eating experience, go off the beaten path to MaMa Kelly’s, which is located outside of the center of the city and inside Olympic Stadium.
Inside the restaurant, everything is pink — and we mean everything. From the décor to the actual food, you’ll probably have one of the most Instagrammable experience of your whole trip. And, if you’re lucky, they’ll even show you the party room, which is covered in leopard from floor to ceiling. We’re obsessed.
A’DAM Lookout
Once you’ve explored the city from the inside, it’s time to find a cool spot with an amazing view of the whole thing. Well, if you’re in Amsterdam, there’s this awesome thing called the A’DAM Lookout, and it offers unparalleled views of the city.
Once you take the elevator up to the lookout point, you can opt to go on this swing, which hangs over the edge of the building. It may sound scary, but it’s a risk you might have to take for the perfect sunset photo to close out your trip.
