Woman outraged by neighbour who wants to use shared garden to give birth

Home births are increasingly common, and research shows they are beneficial for the health of mum and baby.

But what if you want to give birth outside and you don’t have your own garden?

A woman was livid after discovering that one of her neighbours is planning to use their communal garden area on Saturday for a home birth.

She discovered a note left by the mum-to-be in their Queensland apartment block – and is fuming about it.

The woman took to social media to vent, writing: "I’m about five seconds from flipping a desk and writing an angry email to our building manager

"Like most city apartments we have a communal rooftop barbecue area

"You can’t ‘book’ it as such but most people will leave notes in the lift and let the building manager know if they are using the space for a party.

"But I think this is ridiculous."

The woman shared an image of the note from the mum-to-be, MailOnline reported – and it’s sparked a heated debate on whether this is OK or not.

The note reads: "Dear lovely neighbours, just wanting to inform you my partner and I have booked the rooftop for our natural home birth from approximately 1pm till late on the 10th of this month.

"We will do our best to keep the noise levels down and will of course clean up after ourselves. Any issues please feel free to contact me."

The woman said that she’s spoken to the building manager about the legalities of doing this, and the communal areas can be used as long as they ‘do not impede on the peace and recreational use of other residents’.

People commenting on the post seemed to think giving birth WOULD impede the peace and use of other residents.

One said: "’Honestly in an environment like that it shouldn’t be encouraged. What if both the lifts fail? Does she think they’ll fly a helicopter in to get her out?"

Another added: "This is ridiculous!"

Some social media users were more sceptical and thought that it must be a prank, as there is no way to predict a natural birth to such a specific time.

Apparently, the note has been taken down and neighbours have no idea whether a home birth is genuinely happening on their rooftop on Saturday.
