The Hills’ Jason Wahler Admits Parenting Has ‘Ups and Downs’

Jason and Ashley Wahler has one year of parenting in the books. The couple’s daughter, Delilah Ray, celebrated her first birthday on August 21. And that means The Hills alum officially has a toddler on his hands.

“It’s got its ups and downs,” the 31-year-old admitted to Us Weekly at Dr. Drew’s Charity Birthday Bash on Sunday, September 2. But sleep-deprivation aside, the MTV personality, who is filming The Hills reboot, has never been happier. “It’s unbelievable,” Jason told Us of parenting. “We’re blessed. She’s literally our biggest joy in our lives. We’re just happy to be able to create memories.”

Added the proud mom: “I mean, I could go for hours talking about her!”

Delilah Ray has been a constant bright spot for the former Laguna Beach star, who has openly battled drug and alcohol addiction and appeared on Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew in 2010. In April, Jason, who founded Widespread Recovery, a sober living resource for men in Orange County, revealed he had relapsed after four years of sobriety. “I am beyond embarrassed,” he wrote in a powerful Instagram post at the time. “At first I was full of shame and guilt but I am learning to forgive and move forward.”

Dr. Drew Pinsky played an integral role in his recovery. “He came to visit me in the hospital,” Jason revealed on Sunday. “He just shows up. He’s accountable. He’s an all-around good guy.”

Both Jason and his blogger wife of four years credit Dr. Drew for helping him to stay sober. “At the end of the day he told me I had to surrender and needed to take direction,” Jason recalled. “There is so much stuff he has done for me.”
