Pregnant Meghan Markle Plays Football — in Heels!

Whether jogging, holding yoga poses or sweating it out at a Pilates session, Meghan Markle has proven she’s no princess when it comes to her workouts. And as of October 18, the former Suits star is adding Australian sports to her athletic repertoire!

On day three of her 16-day tour of Australia, New Zealand, Tonga and Fiji with Prince Harry, a pregnant Duchess Meghan gamely threw around an Australian Football League gameball (or a “Sherrin” in Oz parlance) at a Melbourne reception hosted by Victoria’s This Girl Can empowerment campaign. “I’m not sure I will be good,” a witness tells Us Meghan exclaimed as she threw the ball. “I’m not sure I did it right!”

Jerril Rechter, CEO of Australia’s VicHealth foundation that runs the campaign, tells Us the 37-year-old duchess was spot-on. “She did pass an AFL football. She did a handball. That’s a pretty incredible thing for anybody to do,” he raves to Us. And though Rechter adds Meghan “had not seen an AFL football” before Victoria Governor Linda Dessau’s husband, Tony Howard, showed her one, she still managed the classic maneuver. “Howard explained to her what [the ball] was like — the weight of it is a little bit different — and that you ‘handball’ it, you don’t pass it,” he says.
