Piers Morgan: Tess Holliday ‘Cosmopolitan U.K.’ Cover Is ‘Dangerous,’ ‘Misguided’

He’s not a fan. Piers Morgan took issue with the October 2018 cover of Cosmopolitan U.K., which features model Tess Holliday.

“As Britain battles an ever-worsening obesity crisis, this is the new cover of Cosmo,” the 53-year-old America’s Got Talent alum wrote on Instagram Thursday, August 30. “Apparently we’re supposed to view it as a ‘huge step forward for body positivity.’ What a load of old baloney.”

He concluded: “This cover is just as dangerous & misguided as celebrating size zero models.”

In the glamorous cover shot, Holliday flaunts her curves in an emerald one-piece. The blurb on the cover reads, “A supermodel roars. Tess Holliday wants the haters to kiss her ass.”

The 33-year-old clapped back at her detractors on Twitter Thursday. “To everyone saying I’m a burden to the British health care system, I’m american so you don’t have to worry about my fat ass,” she tweeted. “Worry about what horrible people you are by whining about how me being on the cover of a glossy magazine impacts your small minded life.”

Holliday had previously shared how much being on the cover of the women’s magazine meant to her. “Phew, I’m literally a COSMO GIRL!! Can’t believe I’m saying that!” she tweeted on Wednesday, August 29. “Thank you @CosmopolitanUK for this incredible opportunity If I saw a body like mine on this magazine when I was a young girl, it would have changed my life.”

The Not So Subtle Art of Being a Fat Girl author opened up in June about the impact of changing her diet to help with her postpartum depression. “I feel guilty,” Holliday revealed to Shape at the time. “The amount of people [who] get thrust into the limelight and they’re plus-size? They lose weight. The more successful they get, the more weight they lose. It’s hard because those people don’t owe staying fat to anyone.”
